Big Bend, Hiking, and Heat

After a morning hike at Seminole Canyon Park, we pack up & head for Big Bend National Park.  Have wanted to visit this park for years, since meeting a Texan on a big trip in Spain.  She really loved this pace, and I was anxious for my first visit.

Selecting our campground was the first task – we decided to go for two nights at Rio Grande Village, followed by one night tomorrow at Chisos Basin, the highest campground in the park.

Selecting a site with maximum shade was our highest priority, since there’s no electric, and we planned to leave Jezzy in the T@DA while we hike.  We’ve got a small ceiling/exhaust fan, but keeping the trailer out of the sun is key.  We selected well, as it’s now the following afternoon – mid 80s outside, and a comfortable 70+ inside.  Our solar panel is working overtime to keep our battery topped off.  LOTS of hot sunshine here.

Found out that Hot springs really are!  Hot.

small trinkets for sale alongside trail

Nice halfway point for our six mile hike. . Along the way, there are several places where Mexican illegals have left small trinkets for sale.  We get lots of warnings about the illegality of purchasing these items.  Just makes me sad.

Gorgeous sunset last night.  Found this GB Heron just hanging out in a tree.

We’ve been really lazy about cooking & eating decently.  It’s so easy to eat junk.  Maybe tonight,
